WHAT'S HAPPENING AT HEAVENLY PATCHWORK

Classes at Heavenly Patchwork are always ‘busy, busy busy’.  One Friday class we were interrupted with 20 RAAF Super Hornets flying over, so we had to take a break and go out and have a look.  It was quite a sight and sound.  They were on a practice flight in readiness for Her majesty the Queens arrival in a few days time.

One of our latest projects has been a quick and easy Raggy Quilt.  You need one Fat Quarter pack of 12 and 1.2m of fabric for the border.  This is enough fabric for the front and back.  The finished size of the quilt is 48” square (120cm square).  A great project to make for a Christmas gift.

Next year in February the owner of Heavenly Patchwork (Lisa), will be heading over to Nepal to help out in an orphanage for two weeks with a group of 15 tradespeople who are building a class room and medical centre over there.  The ladies at Heavenly Patchwork are all busy making a few items for Lisa to take over with her to give to the kids.  Lisa is just a little worried that she may not have enough room in the suitcase to get it all over with her!  But she will do her best to squash it all in. We are also busy raising funds to buy the materials needed for the project.
May your stitches always be true!

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT SEW CREATIVE

The 1950's  hit the Lockyer Valley at Sew Creative at their recent Mystery Afternoon.
Saw two ladies, who could  remember the 50’s well, dancing the afternoon away to Elvis Presley, the Platters and many more of the old favourites!!!!

Of course some sewing was done!

The highlight of the afternoon was definitely afternoon tea – ice cream spiders and banana splits – with lots of cream, ice cream and nuts!  Complete with a wafer!

Looking forward to our next Mystery Afternoon, “The Ginger Bread Story”. Sounds like fun!
For more info on what happens at these Mystery days have a look HERE or contact SEW CREATIVE.

Ladies were told to come dressed in their best 1950 gear and be ready to rock and roll the afternoon away.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE PATCHWORK ANGEL

It's the Patchwork Angels turn.
Recently at the shop we had a Quiltathon where we ran a class teaching a Quilt As You go Technique. the only catch was that at the end of the class you had to donate the quilt to the Sunshine Coast gifts for Kids Quilt drive for Foster Children. We had more than 14 quilts made and donated. Here are just a few. See all the quilts HERE.

Here is Penny handing over the quilts to Melissa from Gifts for Kids.

We are running a class with Robyn Alexander on the 15th and 16th of October making this adorable bag. contact the Patchwork Angel 07 5477 0700 for more info.

Next month we will feature another two of the fabulous shops from the Quilter's Trail.

May your stitches always be true!

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT SEW THIS AND THAT

We have decided it would be a great idea to give you and update on what is happening at each of the 9 best patchwork and quilting shops in South East Queensland. First up is Sew This and That .(formerly know as  Caboolture Sewing Centre).

Here is pic of a Recent class - These are pictures from our 'Party Slippers' class!!  Ladies made their own 'designer' slippers from scratch complete with a non-slip fabric on the underside.  It was a fun class with the ladies finishing the project completely and showing off their work!!  We have patterns available for these as well. LOVE the socks!

Class coming up - Twister Table Runner - A class with Jenny doing partial seams for another step after beginners and those wanting to further their technique base. Learn also about the difference between shade and value with colour while working with unusual shapes and cuts.  Friday 7/10 ().
Contact Sew this and That for info on these events and patterns.

May your stitches always be true,
